Marriage and Family Therapist Intern

Shauntay Matthews

Meet Shauntay Matthews, a wife, mother of three, and aspiring Marriage and Family Therapist with a passion for helping others heal and thrive. After witnessing her husband, Chris A. Matthews, transform relationships through counseling for over a decade, Shauntay was inspired to follow her own calling in the counseling field. Drawing from her 19 years of marriage and experience raising three children, Shauntay brings a unique perspective to her work, blending professional knowledge with real-life understanding.

Shauntay is particularly drawn to Virginia Satir's therapeutic techniques, which focus on fostering self-esteem, improving communication, and creating meaningful connections within families and relationships. Using these methods, she helps clients navigate challenges and build stronger, healthier bonds.

In addition to working with couples and young adults, Shauntay is dedicated to helping women on their individual journeys. She provides compassionate support to women dealing with postpartum challenges, anxiety, depression, and the complexities of parenting. By combining her personal experiences with her growing expertise, she empowers women to find clarity, balance, and confidence in their lives.

Currently in her final year of a master’s program in Marriage and Family Therapy, Shauntay offers counseling services at a reduced rate as she fulfills the requirements for graduation and licensure. Her approach is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and a genuine desire to help clients discover the tools they need to mend relationships and grow into their best selves.
